Our next day in the life feature comes from Hollie, from Flora Fairweather. Hollie has the most beautiful Instagram feed and sells gorgeous blankets and books to brighten up your homes. She lives in West Norfolk so has some fantastic recommendations for family days out outside Norwich.
Hollie’s also recently rescued Posey Pig and friends and is crowd funding to create a safe and loving home for them so make sure you head over to her Instagram feed or crowd funding page to find out more. Over to you, Hollie…
I’m Hollie Flower, master crafter at Florafairweather HQ, I make rainbow bright Pom Pom blankets & have a coffee table book out, Summer at Rose Cottage!
I live here at Florafairweather HQ, Crimplesham, with my husband Dylan, almost 3 year old Flora Bee & our dogs, cat, chickens & rescue pig!
We found our dream cottage 4 years ago now, & spent the summer renovating it from a derelict state with a wedding deadline looming! We moved in the night before the wedding, got married in the village church & walked back home with our friends for a bonfire party to celebrate!
Our day starts here; up early, rain or shine, we start in our fields with breakfast and walking the dogs, I usually take a coffee out with me as I tend to get distracted/sidetracked with a job that needs doing so we’re usually out until mid-morning. Flora is absolutely at her best outside and we are surrounded by beautiful fields so we couldn’t live in a more perfect place to occupy her!
Lunch out around Crimplesham isn’t really an option, but I’ve had a beautiful afternoon tea at Narborough Hall which isn’t too far and well worth the 15 minute drive.
If we go there we usually spend the day, they have the most beautiful fragrant flower and kitchen garden and a long walk mowed through a meadow to a huge treehouse! Summer days here are just perfect but I still enjoy visiting gardens in Norfolk during the winter!
In Stowbridge, the next village to us, they open the Manor House gardens on a Wednesday. Again, it’s beautiful, a bit more rustic but a huuuuuge walled kitchen garden, a mile long walk through their parkland and a tiny little ‘diy’ tearoom. It’s totally relaxed and the bebes can zoom around for hours and hours without any ‘National Trust’ rules or staff to look out for! The village also has a well known, perfectly quaint country pub called The Hare Arms. Pre-Flora we used to visit quite often, they have a really funny bunch of Bantam chickens in the gardens and Peacocks wander the village which belong to the pub. They surprisingly have a GREAT vegetarian menu which we find is quite rare around the rural/farming areas of Norfolk!
In the evening after a bubble bath with Flora I pop on my jammers & start to work! I don’t try to do anything until after bedtime as the wool is just too tempting for Flora and our house ends up looking like a neon spider web! Despite this, I try my hardest not to go to bed too late as we get up so early!
That’s a pretty usual day here at Rose Cottage, busy busy with outside jobs, enjoying the air, Flora and fauna then cosying up with some wool & Instagram scrolling!
